Tech Data welcomes extension of Microsoft Shape the Future programme to all K-12 schools

December 3, 2015

Basingstoke, 03 December 2015 – Tech Data UK has welcomed the expansion of Microsoft’s Shape the Future (STF) programme to all public and private K-12 institutions. The decision means that K-12 schools will no longer be required to provide a letter of eligibility in order to purchase a Shape the Future licensed device.

The change opens up a whole new range of possibilities for the whole channel, says Cathi Low, Director of Public Sector and SMB at Tech Data. “The extension of Shape the Future is great news for vendors and for resellers addressing the education sector. It means that there will now be even more opportunities and it will be much easier for schools to benefit from offers and upgrade their estates to the very latest technology. We will be working with Microsoft and our PC systems vendor partners to make sure that everyone gets the best results from the programme.”

Microsoft’s Shape the Future programme enables all K-12 schools to purchase various Windows devices at a reduced cost. Schools can purchase a Shape the Future license on applicable Windows devices with the appropriate hardware specifications through their preferred resellers.

PC vendors will be offering specific Shape the Future offerings, which will be available through Tech Data’s InTouch online system. Specifications allowed under the scheme can include desktop, notebook and tablet systems based on Intel Atom, Celeron and Pentium processors and those that use the AMD A4 and A6 chips. Vendors can also build mid-range systems that make use of the Intel Core-M family.

Microsoft continues to invest in helping K-12 schools create the desired 21st century classroom. More information is available at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/.

Tech Data is giving resellers an opportunity to get hands-on with Microsoft’s latest technologies and devices and how they can be used in learning scenarios at its special partner event at the Microsoft Showcase Classroom in London today (Thursday 3rd December).
