Datech aims to expand channel reach of AutoCAD LT under Desktop Subscription

Lower entry cost and easier management of user licenses via Datech eStore will expand the potential market and make it easier for new partners to sell the industry-leading 2D drafting software system to customers outside the CAD market

Basingstoke, 25 March 2015 – TD Datech, the specialist CAD-focused business unit of Tech Data and the sole authorised distributor for Autodesk software in the UK, is planning to get more resellers and retailers involved in selling AutoCAD LT – Autodesk’s market-leading 2D design and drafting software.

AutoCAD LT is now available on Desktop Subscription licenses for £290 per annum. This is significantly lower than the cost of purchasing a new perpetual license to which a maintenance renewal subscription would need to be added, with an initial capital cost of £950 and ongoing annual fees of £180. In addition, by making use of Datech’s eStore tool for resellers, it is much easier for resellers to keep track of customer subscriptions and renewals.

Anna Marie Constantinou, Datech Retail Business Manager, says there are good opportunities for new resellers to get involved. “The switch to Desktop Subscription means that the entry point for AutoCAD LT is now significantly lower, bringing many more potential customers into the frame and expanding the total available market. There are many different areas in which AutoCAD LT can be used – interior design, event and exhibition planning, for small building projects, for new shop and office set-ups and moves and more. Many more of these businesses can now afford to use an AutoCAD product, rather than a low-cost of freeware alternative, and get all the performance advantages and reassurance that come with that. Making use of the Datech eStore also makes sense for resellers looking to develop their AutoCAD LT business. The eStore can be embedded within the partner’s website – or they can make use of a link to the stand-alone hosted service. In both instances, the eStore is branded with the reseller’s own logo, welcome message and calls-to-action. The reseller can select the products they want to offer via the eStore and specify their own pricing and terms and conditions.
