Datech partner recruitment drive aims to take AutoCAD LT to a wider market

October 7, 2014

New Autodesk subscriptions bring potential to attract new customers who want to benefit from the advanced capabilities of Autodesk’s industry-leading software

Basingstoke, 07 October 2014 – Datech UK, the specialist CAD division of Tech Data, is looking to recruit more partners for Autodesk’s leading 2D drafting software, AutoCAD LT, to capitalise on the added potential presented by the vendor’s new Desktop Subscription licensing scheme, which makes it the software more affordable and easier to manage.

AutoCAD LT is now available on a term-based license, making the entry pricing a match for any level of competition. A one-year AutoCAD LT 2015 Desktop Subscription carries an SRP of £300; this compares to a Perpetual License SRP of £950 SRP, on top of which customers would be expected to pay annual maintenance of £180.

Datech, the exclusive distributor for AutoCAD in the UK, is taking the lead in expanding the AutoCAD channel and encouraging new partners to take AutoCAD LT to market. Kevin Markwick, UK Ireland Business Unit Director at Datech, said: “The appeal and potential user base for AutoCAD LT is greater than it has ever been before. The software is used worldwide by architects, engineers, construction companies, events companies, facilities departments, retail store layout designers, anyone who is making accurate 2D drawings – and it could be used by many more businesses and individuals. This is a chance for resellers to get involved at the start of what we expect to be a significant expansion of the AutoCAD channel and an excellent growth opportunity for their business.”

The benefits AutoCAD LT offers have broad appeal. As well as being a tried and trusted system and the professional choice for creating precise 2D drawings, it offers excellent connectivity capabilities, so users can easily collaborate while remote or on the move, and an enhanced interface that makes its powerful tools remarkably easy to learn and use.

Datech will be providing sales training and marketing materials explaining the appeal of AutoCAD LT to new customers under the new Desktop Subscription licensing model. With customers moving onto subscription, it also means recurring revenue and attach-sale opportunities for resellers. These could be significant, with high-end graphics and large-format output commonplace requirements.
