New In-Vehicle version of Magnese’s unique laptop power solution makes it easy for any mobile worker to stay charged-up and ready for action wherever they go

Lamport, Northants, 29 April 2015 – Magnese®, the designer and developer of innovative technology accessories, has launched the latest addition to its popular range of in-vehicle power solutions.

The ingenious In-Vehicle Smart-Part can be used to provide portable power for a wide range of laptops and mobile devices through its high-powered USB connection. One of the most compact chargers available on the market today, it can be connected to the vehicle’s charging port to deliver 90 watts of power and charge both a laptop and a smartphone at the same time. The interchangeable Smart-Part cables make it safe and simple to connect to a wide range of laptops.

Originally devised to meet the specific needs of the mobile workforce of a large well-known corporate organisation, Magnese’s in-vehicle power solutions are already a popular choice for field-based sales and fleet operations.

“The Smart-Part was built and designed to solve a very specific problem – namely to provide safe, compact and dependable in-vehicle charging for a range of different laptops”, Jonnie Davis, Chief Inspiration Officer for Magnese, explains.

“The originating client had experienced a lot of problems with their previous in-vehicle power solutions and was in the process of refreshing laptops for its field-based engineers. That meant the charger had to work for a range of notebook models from different vendors. We designed the original in-vehicle charger to meet those needs. Four years later we have produced more than 20,000 units for that customer and others, who it turned out, had similar problems. The Smart-Part is safe, easy to use and it works – and customers love it.”

It also makes the in-vehicle solution easy to sell, Davis notes, and as Magnese works only through channel partners, that’s excellent news for resellers. “The new in-vehicle charger is the perfect add-on for resellers looking to provide customers with added-value and a product they can trust. It’s designed to meet a wide range of needs, but we will also customise the product to suit specific requirements.”

While Magnese has worked mainly with larger, corporate customers to date, low volume production runs can also be cost-effective, says Davis. “We’ve done some relatively small runs of the in-vehicle power unit for partners and their customers in the past, and we can do that again at any time. The message is, don’t be afraid to ask – we’ll always try to meet your customer’s exact requirements.”

Magnese’s full range of over 100 products is available to resellers through distributor Tech Data. As well as mobile and mains chargers it includes security locks, cables, connectors and privacy filters for use in the office or on the move.
