Colin Shepherd takes the helm at Tech Data Supplies business
Basingstoke, 10 March 2015 – Tech Data UK has appointed Colin Shepherd as the new head of its Supplies business unit.
With more than 15 years of experience working in specialist supplies roles within distribution, Shepherd has arrived at Tech Data UK with a remit to help resellers and dealers grow their sales. The way to do that, he says, is to ensure that the company is meeting all the needs of resellers and enabling them to optimise their potential by offering superior service and stock availability.

Tech Data offers a comprehensive range of ink-jet and toner cartridges, paper and film, labels and other consumables for leading brand printers and multi-functional devices. In addition, it offers tape cartridges and other media for a wide range of tape drives and removable storage devices. In total, Tech Data stocks approximately 4000 consumable product lines.
In addition, Tech Data’s Supplies Configurator tool provides resellers with an easy way to identify the supplies and consumables they need to meet the needs of their customers. They can check the up-to-date stock position and place and manage orders via Tech Data’s InTouch online platform, 24-hours a day. Tech Data also helps resellers to drive attach rates of consumables by highlighting supplies items that are regularly purchased with specific printers and devices on search result screens.
With its £100 million stock holding capacity and state-of-the-art logistics, Tech Data is able to meet the needs of resellers and retailers throughout the UK and Ireland. In total, Tech Data stocks more than 40,000 different product lines and its logistics warehouse delivers over 10,000 items every day with a 99.99 per cent success rate. In addition, Tech Data provides credit lines of more than £1.5 billion to its customers and its Credit Elevator programme enables resellers to extend their credit line quickly in line with their business growth.
Tech Data also runs frequent SMB Vendor Engagement events, at which resellers can get sales and technical training and meet with vendor and Tech Data staff face-to-face. Resellers that are engaged on its Tech Select partner growth programme receive access to extended support and expert help with sales and marketing.
